Writing Tools

There are numerous tools available to assist writers in crafting their novels, each catering to different aspects of the writing process. Here are some popular and effective tools for novel writing:

ProWritingAid is a writing assistant tool that offers detailed feedback on grammar, style, and structure.

Features:

Grammar and Style Checks: Provides in-depth analysis of your writing.

Reports and Feedback: Offers reports on readability, pacing, and more.

This can be an invaluable tool to use alongside your human editor.

From their website: ProWritingAid is more than just an editing assistant; it’s your ticket to exceptional writing. Craft, edit, and refine your work.

ProWritingAid can be used several times during your writing and editing process. It might be worth a try.

Vellum 2.png

Vellum is a book formatting software. And I’m a big fan. You can import your file directly into Vellum, set up a few preferences, and voila, it spits out a beautifully formatted book. I wouldn’t want to publish without it.

I write in Scrivener and then import the final product into Vellum, to make it pretty. Thankfully they were both a one-time cost, because I’m allergic to monthly fees.  :-)

SCRIVENER

This is a writing program. It has lots of bells and whistles, many of which you may never use. I love this program and have written most of my books in it. My favorite thing to do is split the screen vertically, and put the outline on the right, while my writing space is on the left. This way, I can keep an eye on my outline as I write and not go too far off the rails.

Scrivener is a comprehensive writing tool designed for managing complex writing projects. It offers a range of features including a cork board for organizing scenes, a split-screen mode for researching and writing simultaneously, and customizable templates.
